Summary:
 
Creation of visual identity, site and publicity material.
 
Process and conceptualization:
 
Office – I with another graphic designer, João Geszti, we have created the design office Studio Hangar, a partnership that has not been long duration, we have opened the company in late 2010 and closed in mid-2011, I have created the logo, I have taken some time, we have done some small projects for clients even in the beginning of their activities, it has ended because we have not got the account of a large client that we had been expecting, the incoming money has not justified the partnership. I have kept the brand I had made, I had suggested the name, I have also kept the domain, João has moved on to another area, teacher of yoga.
  
Brand – The idea of the name has been Studio Hangar, of ideas, the ideas coming and going, I had been the Basic Project II, subject in the graduation, Estácio de Sá, with the teacher Jaci Madsen and I have been learning with her when you would make an analogy to talk about a theme, this theme becomes more relevant to the receiver, my project of this subject has been about samba and I have been using the language of nature to talk about it, It has been a collection of three volumes of books, the Roots of Samba (the cover of the book has been a huge tree), Samba’s roots (Samba de raiz - is a expression of a traditional Samba - a tree’s leaf with exposure of its veins) and Fruits of Samba (blue plough in the tree’s branches, making the analogy that they would be the fruits of Samba, such as Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim etc.. ). 
 
With this introduction, now I will be talking about the creation of the brand of the Studio Hangar, a connection with aviation, air, clouds, trying to associate the office to creativity, and to make the logo, after I have been studying and generating alternatives, then, I have been creating an analogy with the brain, a brains’ typography, but through the process of doing it, I have been going into the detail of each letter and seeking the ideal reading and legibility to my eyes, then, I have been trying to find a way of the symmetry and, then, I have found a way in the direction of the creations of brands, per example by Aloisio Magalhaes, a major reference of Brazilian graphic designer (designer of the 70’s), especially in creating brands, but I have created a brand totally organic, different from him (totally constructivist), I have been generating circles and basing its on them to make the curves to be justified, there is the image number 3 on the highlights, which one has the markings, I have left the markings in some curves and the junctions of the curves by the complexity that its has been generating.
 
Site – After a long period, I have been keeping the domain and preparing myself to make this portfolio and in the middle of 2018, I still have been working at the National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC)1, I have been virtually’s meeting with the programmer Fábio Silva and the webdesigner Rico Reis, when we have been establishing the rules and the steps to make the development and the Front End of the site. I have been creating an initial layout in a quick way, I been refering to them the site - velvetspectrum.com (the old version of this site), the images I have created with the size markings and how many works would have on the home-page etc., and another layout of the detail’s page of the works. Rico Reis has made some notes and in a few days he has done the Front End ready, in its initial form, which would require some adjustments later, then the ASP.NET programmer has done the project for a few months, he has been creating all the administrative’s area of the site. As Rico Reis could not to do the last Front End fixing, the webdesigner Rogério Saraceni has been contributing with the lasts’ fixing, indication by Fábio Silva, who has actually been the person responsible for make all this site - the programming, the Front End (indicating the two webdesigners) and the portfolio administration, as everything has been needing to be based on the programming.
 
Portfolio – On August 2019, the portfolio’s project became a necessity, because in the previous month I have disconnected from the entity where I have been working 8 years, that’s when I have been meeting with the photographer Guarim de Lorena and he has taken the photos of the works. He has been doing everything in two days, I have bought 180g/m2 Color Plus papers, of various colours, it has been adding to the photos of the projects. The texts have been all written by myself, edited and revised, everything initially has been writting in Portuguese and then translating into English, using the translation’s site - deepl.com, and later, I have been making the adjustments on the texts. 
 
The picture with my canvas’ portrait that appears in the “about”, it has made by my painting’s teacher, Ricardo Newton. I have created an image that is on the contacts page: a brain’s texture, an element making mension to the initial ideas that it has been making for the brand, spreading. The final adjustments on the site, the administrative part, have been making by myself, already in London.
 
1 National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC – cnc.org. br) – Patronal syndical entity, which groups 34 Federations in the whole Brazilian territory, 27 referring to their respective states in Brazil and 7 of these 34 at national level, there are more than five million companies represented in the commerce that generate around 25.5 million direct and formal jobs, it acts in order that the sector is always present at the formulation of public policies, following the progress of the proposals of interest in the National Congress of Brazil and in the defense of the Constitution of Brazil, always it having in focus the laws that may impact the segment. 
 
The CNC was founded at 4th September of 1945, its current President is José Roberto Tadros, who succeeded Antonio Oliveira Santos, in an election that was held in 2018, and it is responsible for the administration of two institutions of great performances in Brazil and that form one of the largest systems of social development in the world, the institution of Commerce Social Service (Sesc – sesc.com.br) and the institution of National Service of Commercial Learning (Senac – senac.br), the first mentioned, with social projects, such as Mesa Brasil, Ecos Program of sustainability etc. (acts in the following areas: Alimentation, Culture, Education, Health, Leisure, Social Assisntence, Sports, Sustainability etc.) and the second in assisting the training and qualification of employees of the companies in the commerce sector (shopkeepers, waiters, chefs, hoteliers etc.).
